Black & White Sunday -- Right- or Left-Pawed?

Panchita. Right-pawed.
Duncan. Also right-pawed.
(Ours is a love story of epic scale.)
Rusty. Also right-pawed.

Benny. The leftie!

Doggie ice cream: good-quality canned dog food mixed with a bit of water, and spooned into Kongs. Let freeze for at least three hours. Hand out. Sit back (with a camera) and enjoy.

  1. I think Jack is ambidextrous, but I'll have to test it out!

    1. Please do--and share the results! I never thought of dogs being right- or left-pawed (I somehow assumed they were all ambidextrous, not really sure why...), but it kind of jumped out at me with these photos how three seemed to favor using their right paw and some their left. Something to explore ;)

      Thanks for the visit!

    1. It always makes me think of that great book, The Art Of Racing In The Rain (Garth Stein, 2011, I think), and how Enzo hankered after thumbs. What dogs could do if they had thumbs :)

Thanks for the return visit, Dory et al! Loved your blog.

  5. We love Kongs stuffed with treats. That sounds extra tasty. Bentley & Pierre are both right pawed.

    1. Thanks, Dolly :) With the amount of pics I snap at these furry babes (to their eternal confusion and displeasure) there's usually a couple of public-worthy shots in there. Usually ;)

      Thanks for the visit!

  8. So cute. I haven't ever paid attention to left or right paw preference on my dogs, but now I will. We do the Kong thing too. :)

    1. I never did either, until I put together these photos :) I'll be curious to see if your dogs also show a preference for right or left. Thanks for the visit, and Viva le Kong!

  10. I need to get some Kongs for next Summer! Frankie and Beryl are both left pawed and Asher is right pawed at our place. It is something I do notice with dogs, does that make me odd, lol?

  11. Donna is very moody with her kong, some days she would wait for us to come home before she would go near her kong which is supposed to entertain her while we're out. :)

  12. So now you have my human mommy wondering. I'm sure that there will be much observing over the next few days to determine which paw I favor. By the way, that also means that she'll have to give me lots of yummy treats, so thanks for that. :-)

  13. Haha--didn't think of that, but I'm very pleased for you :D Enjoy the multi-treat sessions, and tell your mom to let me know when she figures out which paw you use the most!

  14. That looks like our house on Sunday! Sometime our girls get frozen peanut butter and yogurt in the Kongs.

    1. I'll have to try that! Rusty (third pic above) has a weight problem, which is why I stopped PB treats, but she's almost back at her ideal weight. Maybe it's time to try it again :) Thanks for sharing that, and for stopping by!
