Nena, the only girl, left on Friday August 22nd. Ochoa left the next day, Saturday August 23rd. Little Sneijder, whose plans for adoption had fallen through, found the absolute most perfect home for him.
Cor saying goodbye to Sneijder just before we brought him to his new home. |
And now the house feels sad... and quiet.
Those three babies, hard work and all, were little bundles of joy that left empty spaces impossible to fill. Yes, it's great to know they all found excellent families, that they'll be happy, and spoiled (two get to sleep on the bed with their humans!), and healthy, and well-fed, and well-exercised, and--above all--loved to bits. Yes, I feel good about seeing them go, that they lived, and thrived enough under my care, to get to go.
But it's still away. It's goodbye. And the holes they leave behind are physical space I can't ignore. And neither can Duncan, who had taken on the role of surrogate dad.
Happy lives, little ones. Happy, happy lives.
OH I hope Duncan isn't too depressed. They are so cute and probably full of mischief but i am happy they all have loving homes
ReplyDeleteThanks, Birgit! Duncan seems to have gotten over it by now (it's been almost two weeks), although I catch him sometimes still sniffing around, as if looking for something. Someone. But he shows no signs of depression, which is a relief :)
ReplyDeleteIs Duncan aware on how adorable he is? Puppy smootches for sweetie pie Duncan and those adorable puppies omgosh I could never say goodbye to them it would break my heart. ♥
ReplyDeleteYou're a stronger foster mommy then I could ever be, bless your heart Guilie! ♥
Aw, Marie--thank you! Duncan's got me wrapped around his dewclaw, and I'm pretty sure he knows it :) Yes, fostering has its downside, especially with puppies--you just want to keep them all, and saying goodbye is hard. But knowing they go to great homes helps. Somewhat ;)
DeleteHow wonderful they all went to great homes. And kudos to you for helping it happen.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mary! Yes, these homes were really the best of the best. Such a relief!
DeleteI do admire what you do, Guilie; I'm sure I couldn't muster such love, patience and courage. More power to you!
ReplyDeleteAw, Keith :) Thank you.
DeleteAh, so tender Guilie .. they've had the best start. May they continue on their happy journey - and you too.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the good wishes, Susan! From your mouth to god's ears :)
